About Fumaça Waterfall
Discover one of the largest waterfalls in Brazil, located in the heart of Chapada Diamantina. At 380m high, Cachoeira da Fumaça is so high that the water cannot reach the ground evenly, giving the effect that inspires the name of the waterfall. It is considered the largest waterfall in Brazil in free fall, a true spectacle.
To get to the waterfall, we need to climb for 1 hour to the top of the mountain. From there, we will walk for another 1 hour on flat terrain, in a place that was previously used to protect oxen during the flood season. Today, the area is extremely preserved by drivers, firefighters and park monitors, which gives us the opportunity to contemplate several endemic plants that grow in the rocky field.
