Pati Valley 3 Days

The experience

Discover with mamut the most beautiful trekking in Brazil. Located in the heart of the Chapada Diamantina National Park (PNCD) surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and caves. Stunning views that lead us to deep reflections during walks in the valley. We can catch distant mountains, take cold waterfall baths, visit caves, listen to the stories of the old people who lived there, and taste the best of local food in the native’s homes. It is a true natural, historical, geological, and cultural show.  The Pati Valley can provide us with many deep emotions such as overcoming, connection, and respect. Just look carefully around and be enchanted by the shapes, smells, sensations, and connections that only Pati can offer. It is a very versatile trip that can be done by people of any age. There are many levels of difficulty and we can spend 02 to 05 days in the Pati Valley, depending on your group’s preference. Check here for more conditions.

DAY 1 – TRANSFER FROM LENÇÓIS TO GUINÉ + PATI VIEWPOINT + AGNALDO’S HOUSE

On the first day, we will depart from Lençóis at 6:00 AM (we suggest having breakfast at the destination) and arrive at the village of Guiné around 8:00 AM, where we will start the trail. This leg of the journey takes 2 hours by car, alternating between paved and dirt roads. After final adjustments, we will hike for about 3 hours (1 hour of steep ascent and 2 hours on flat terrain) to the Traditional Pati Valley Viewpoint (Mirante da Rampa). After a snack, we will walk for another 1 hour and 30 minutes towards the Funis, Altina, and Bananeiras Waterfalls. We will arrive at our accommodation around 5:00 PM, and dinner will be served at 7:00 PM.

Distance: 12km
Effort: Moderate

DAY 2 – MORRO DO CASTELO

We will depart at 8:00 AM after breakfast and head towards Morro do Castelo with only our daily essentials. This will be the most physically demanding day, as we will climb a hill with more than 250m in height and over 1200m in altitude.
The ascent takes between 60 and 80 minutes. After the climb, the terrain is mostly flat until the entrance of the Lapinha Cave. At the top of Morro do Castelo, we will visit 2 different viewpoints and the entrance to the Lapinha Cave, one of the rarest caves in the world, located at over 1,000m above sea level. We will return the same way and, if time permits, we may visit a waterfall near the accommodation.

Distance: 8km
Effort: High

DAY 3 – CACHOEIRÃO + ALEIXOS + TRANSFER BACK TO LENÇÓIS

We will bid farewell to our accommodation and depart at the same time, 8:00 AM. We will hike for about 3 hours to the Cachoeirão Viewpoint (2 hours on rugged terrain and 1 hour on flat terrain), which is approximately 280m high. If it is the rainy season, we will be able to see around 16 waterfalls around the valley. It’s breathtaking! After a snack prepared by our guide, we will continue through the Gerais do Rio Preto until the descent of Aleixos, where our car will be ready around 5:00 PM to take us back to Lençóis (80km).

Responsibility Disclaimer and Activity Level Classification

Safety at Pati Valley 3 Days

Your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are our priorities. That’s why we rely on guides trained in Pre-Hospital Care (PHC) and Minimum Conduct Competencies (CMC) courses according to ABNT standards, with some guides also certified in WAFA. All guides are equipped with first-aid kits for remote areas and bring extensive mountain experience. However, please note that this is not a 100% risk-free activity. Despite all precautions, preventative measures, and responsibilities we undertake, unforeseen events and accidents can happen. Like nearly all adventure activities in natural environments, there is an element of risk (venomous animals, falls with fractures and abrasions, storms, flooding, general accidents, etc.). The chosen trip takes place in wilderness locations, where rescue procedures may take time (and may take more than 5 hours to begin, a service not included in our reservation). Mechanical issues with the transport vehicle may also cause delays or alterations to the trip. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of all participants bringing the mandatory equipment listed under the checklist tab. The absence of mandatory equipment will prevent participation in the activity.
